be kind &
know what you’re standing for.
The Tom Morley Tribe is a committed group of makers, musicians, activists and storytellers. We stand for justice, love and imagination.
Especially imagination. If we don’t have that then everything is a struggle. When we have it then everything is an adventure and a bonding experience. Artists sometimes say a painting is never finished it’s only ever abandoned, but like a good story our events have a beginning middle and an end. There’s often a party or ritual to celebrate the end – an opportunity to enjoy what we’ve learned during the act of creation.
In a soft way circles say “no” to hierarchy. They disrupt the standard power structure of the class room and the board room. They invite and facilitate a different relationship between people. In the story of Camelot he Knights of the round table were equal, they would gather there before going off on their quests. But whether they failed or succeeded on those adventures they would still be equal at the table on their return.
That’s the point really. There are no tests here, no judgements. Or at least if there are judgements they are noted and recognised for what they are.
The truth is elsewhere, the truth is in the experience, the value of what we do is stored and amplified in the heart.
Everyone in this tribe does what they do because they love it. Whether they’re artists, dancers, activists, songwriters or makers they would rather die than give up what they’re doing.
We print our own licences to live, we do our own paperwork, sign our own sick notes and design our each other’s certificates of mastery.
There are many groups like us and we’re glad they exist in the world.
They’re our allies, our brothers and sisters. We sing with them, we dance with them.
Then we come back to our own campfire.
